Inchiesta alla FIAT era il risultato di un seminario di storia dell'Università di Torino nell'Anno Accademico 1980-81.
La sua importanza può essere valutata solo in connessione con l'altra Inchiesta, fatta 10 anni prima con lo stesso questionario poi pubblicato con il titolo La FIAT è la nostra università (che verrà presto reso disponibile nella sezione «archivi».

Romolo Gobbi già docente di Storia dei movimenti e dei partiti politici all’Università di Torino, ha collaborato a varie riviste: «Quaderni rossi», «Gatto selvaggio», «classe operaia», «Contropiano». Ha pubblicato tra l’altro: La Fiat è la nostra università (1969), Operai e Resistenza (1973), Il ’68 alla rovescia (1988), I figli dell’Apocalisse (1993), Fascismo e complessità (1998), America contro Europa (2002), Semi, guerre e carestie (2019). È attore coprotagonista del docufilm Il decennio rosso (VideoAstolfoSullaLuna), basato sul presente volume.
